It was really good reading your post about the activities you've been doing and getting busy making things. Nice work with the pants too haha Reading that post I felt so hopeful, such a positive voice echoed through the words. I'm really impressed at your efforts @The-red-centaur
With regards to your most recent post and beginning to feel hopeless again--I recognise this pattern. I do this. Our brains do this. When we spend so long feeling geared towards misery, it comes as a shock to our brains when things start turning around. Being productive, doing things that bring joy, engaging with people, you're developing new neuron connections. When we do this, our brains do a bit of a system check and try to gear us back to those neuron connections that are well established--the miserable ones. They have been prominent within our brains and anything new is seen as a threat. So, it is natural and part of the healing process to go from feeling good, to feeling hopeless. Try to recognise it for what it is and refocus your efforts on those positives. The more you do those things, the stronger those new pathways become. Take a screenshot of your previous post about the activities you've been doing, the painting, making a bag, working with staff and other patients. Screenshot it and save it as a backgroung on your phone or if possible print it out and tack on your wall. Use it as a reminder to redirect your attention and keep developing those new neuron pathways.
