  • Hi l am really struggling today everything is getting on top of me . Financial stress because my housemate is leaving and l can't afford the rent alone. I haven't found any one else to replace them l can't afford the rent alone plus gas bill coming up. I m not eating properly or at all. I am in pain due to a hernia l have had for years and still no indication of when it will.be operated on . No local support services for Financial assistance will help me. Ahh live doesn't get any better despite my counsellor saying it will.

Re: Not coping

Hi @john74 I'm really sorry to hear how tough things are for you right now. It sounds like it's a really stressful time. I know housing and financial stressors are awful to cope with. I've gone through quite a lot of financial instability in my life and it had such a negative affect on my mental state, and really on my health overall. And then for you to be in pain on top of that, that's just an awful combination

It sounds like you're exploring your options so I don't just want to throw resources at you here, but I did want to ask if there's anything we can do to support you right now?

Re: Not coping

Hi @john74

I'm sorry to hear that things are stressful for you right now. Financial and health burdens can be very limiting. Don't let a few knock-backs stop you. It's great that you're reaching out. There will be an open door at some point. **Edit: Sometimes knocking enough times, someone gives us an answer we need, or provides a lead. I hope so for you! Apologies if that came across insensitively.

I'm wondering whether you might contact your local GP and seek a referral for community assistance that way, considering that you are no longer eating properly?

Sometimes local foodbanks can provide clothing, food and vouchers, so you can focus on paying rent and bills while you look for a housemate.

Also, the Salvos offer free financial counselling. Being able to restructure your budget with them can sometimes allow you to consolidate debts, and access help paying bills or medical costs, etc.

AskIzzy is a dedicated website for support services, just in case there are other options available in your area?

You're probably across most of it already, but I love this thread and found a few little gems in it quite useful Budgeting Page

Take care of yourself, one thing at a time 👍
