@Ru-bee yes I had the counselling appointment. It meant that I had to face what I’ve been avoiding for so long.

My face also hurts and I have goop coming from my eye

Ah, yep those sessions can be good overall but man can they take a lot out of you @creative_writer 

 

Are there any things you could do for yourself tonight to show yourself some extra care after such a hard session? 

I'm about to finish up for the night but others are around, I hope that you're able to have a gentle evening

@Ru-bee they certainly can. I’ll just be winding down tonight. I’ll probably have some dinner soon. Therapy isn’t easy, it can leave you emotional.

I don’t think the eye infection is helping either. My eyebrow is also hurting, not sure if it’s related, or whether it’s from stress. Stress isn’t a friend for migraine sufferers.

@rav3n I think it’s a migraine type headache. I tend to get them one sided like right now. It is on the same side as eye infection too. I guess I won’t be wearing eye makeup tomorrow, I don’t want to irritate my eye or have to throw out my makeup. Makeup is so expensive.

I just had some dinner, feeling slightly better but it is still hard. Opening up old wounds is hard

ahh i see, makes sense with the eye infection - yep no eye makeup definitely sounds like a safe bet for tomorrow! @creative_writer makeup is sooo expensive, i swear i've had the same foundation and mascara for years (i know that's really bad... 😬)

 

glad you're feeling a lil better post dinner! what'd you have?

so fair, as much as therapy helps on the long run, re-opening old wounds is still hard. do you have a go-to post therapy activity to wind down?

@rav3n to be fair the eye infection is probably a result of stimming. I touch my face a lot and it’s not good. How do you make your foundation or mascara last so long. Mine would be dried up after a few years lol, but then I do get the more natural sort of makeup.

I’ve just been doing some prayers this evening, it keeps me occupied and I feel better afterwards

ohh i see! i touch my face a lot cos of my anxiety too, my mum gets so pissed when she catches me 😆 particularly my eyelashes and cheeks (i can't stop pick my pimple scars oops). i used to avoid wearing mascara cos i rubbed my eyes too much but now i'm a bit better with it... but hayfever season's here so the itchy/watery eyes have started.

i don't know how i kept my foundation and mascara alive to be honest... surprisingly they're both in decent condition except maybe the mascara, its starting to get clunky. what brand foundation do you use?

@creative_writer really glad the evening prayers have been helping, how long do you usually pray for?

@rav3n my dad tells me to not touch my face 🤣. I’ve been rubbing my eyes too because of hay fever, kind of how I got the infection. I’ve given myself an infection before, but clearly I didn’t learn.

I don’t wear foundation, but i use a concealer by Inika.

I just try to set some time aside for prayers. The amount of time I set will vary from day to day.

haha i know our parents have good intentions when they say 'stop touching your face' but damn its hard not to 😂 my mum literally gave me this brain-shaped stress ball the other day and said 'touch this instead' and stormed out of my room. @creative_writer hopefully the eye infection doesn't get too bad! its tricky isn't it, even when we know whats good for us, it takes a bit of time (or in my class A REALLY long time) to actually stop those habits 

i just googled it - apparently Inika is an organic brand with less chemicals? maybe that's why it dries up, mine probably has too many chemical preservatives make it last longer... yikes for me.

oh that's so good! i really should get back to praying regularly, i sometimes do a quick 1-2 minute prayer and even those few minutes calmed me down - really love that you've set aside time for it.
