I'm checking in. Things have been topsy turvy for me of late. The big D (diet) is still going but I haven't lost anymore weight despite eating really healthy and getting exercise as much as I can. It is really depressing me that I can't shift this weight no matter what I do. I asked the doctor about weight loss surgery but she refused me a referral to either a dietician or a surgeon, stating that I must be cheating on my diet (which I am not). Another Summer is approaching and I will again swelter in long pants and baggy shirts, covering up my body. I loathe it and loathe my looks. Anyhoo, that's where I'm at if anyone wonders about my absence from the forums.

That sounds extremely frustrating @Queenie and definitely not what you need to hear from your doctor when you are doing everything right - so rude!
I hope you begin seeing the benefits of your diet and exercise soon - I am in a similar boat as you atm - I lost a little weight but have plateaued and finding it hard to move any more - hopefully when the weather improves and I can start the beach walks again that will help - I have been predominantly walking in the pool but can only do that twice a week at the moment - hoping also to increase that to 3 times a week.
Goodluck with it all Hon - fingers crossed you see some of the benefits soon.

I got that response from my doctor u til I was found to have metabolic syndrome @Queenie ..... look it up if you want to ..... it explained to me why the more I dieted and expertised the more weight I was gaining .... and I was being accused of cheating on what I was writing down as a diet intake and exercise. The third spoke in that wheel is stress .... it causes cortisol
and insulin release as if I was eating cream cakes all day ..... but most doctors are not (educated to ?) factoring that in ..... as I have reduced the stress in my life and upped the self-care, my body score is slowly coming down, more in the form of changing shape - I avoid the scales like the plague .....
Metabolic Stndrome weight gain causes a heavier form of weight storage than normal, so I register far heavier on the scales than I appear in person. That will only change with time and continuing my healthy lifestyle.
It sucks ..... but understanding how this thing works helped me because it was so confusing till then, which is what I am hearing in what you have written too.
Good luck ..... ❣️

Dearest @CheerBear
How are you ? I’m a bit tired to search for info on Doctors talks on your condition on my tiny phone ..... I will a bit later tonight but just to let you know that I am thinking about you.
Not dismissing your latest medical complaint but you know that we live in the best country in the world when it comes to medical conditions.
Several years Ago I learned that My neurologist and subsequently : my sons neurologist; had Mr Carson who heads/ headed the John Hopkins Hospital in America under him teaching him neurology. When Mr Carson wrote some books writing about his life ; he writes that if he didn’t come to Australia to do his residency he wouldn’t have learned as much as he did.
When you look at what you are dealing with : the hospitals/ the doctors in Australia They work hard to do the best they can.
Is there support for you like : before the appointments there is a place that you can have a sit down and volunteers give you a cuppa ?
im down South having a couple of days break with Mr Buddha ..... his Dad. My F.i.l is 80 and has this kind aura around him that also calms Mr Buddha too.
Xx

Hi @Zoe7@Shaz51@Faith-and-Hope@Queenie@CheerBear
everyone. In 2010 I got a lap band with private medical which I quit soon after because it was getting too expensive but I found out I could have gone through the public system easily.
Its definately a growth thing. For the first two years I only lost about 10 k. I think I have lost over 20 now. I’m far too scared to weigh myself.
I’m size 14..... used to be 22-24.
My Gp was very resistant to me being referred to a doctor to get the plastic band tied around my tummy but she didn’t even want me to go on antidepressants and I researched and put myself on them. After about 6 months later I changed Gps.
its changed my life. It suits me. It doesn’t suit everyone

Hey @Teej
I watched the forum change happen this morning and one of the first things I wanted to try was uploading from new albums (I still haven't been able to play with this one).
It doesn't work for me yet but I'm giving myself points for perseverance 😆😉
Sending you loads of these ⬆️ and looking forward to hearing from you if/when you're up to it 💗
