Memorable moments of 2016

I am reallly interested in all of this @utopia and @Heart

It needs all Australians to have an active interest in all these things - I have done a lot in the past but as the years have passed by health problems and my financial situation has made this difficult but I am ready to have a look into the history of my son's people - he can never know - or maybe he can - who knows

Friday is the 47th anniversary of his adoption - if he had not died I very likely would have done this searching for him and with him - now I can at least find out about the culture for myself

It's possibly a good thing that the tribal elders have control over these sites - after all - they are protecting their own - and I intend to find out all I can from the website

@Decadian. You are welcome. Please let me know what you find. Is he a Sydney boy? There will be organisations in Sydney who can help locate and name his tribal group, etc.
Think we may need a new post on the forum -called Aboriginal Learnings -or similar.

For me the most memorable time on the forum in 2016 has been much more than a moment .. it has been the gradual influx of new people and rising tide of authentic relating.  The sharing of hard times and support given has helped keep me optimistic about the future.

My son was born in Melbourne - and I have not tried to search for his tribal roots - I had not really thought about it - there is no way I could find his birth father and I have no reason to see his birth mother about this - it's complicated and I don't want to interfer in this part of her life - for any reason

But no doubt the Aboriginal Legal Service in Melbourne could help - they have helped me in the past and maybe could help me in the future - or maybe there will be a website that will help me

Thanks for all of this - and yes - with enough people showing interest in our Indigneous People for whatever good reasons we could have a seperate thread for this so the convo doesn't get lost in the large convos
